Spring in Australia is a sight to behold. It’s invigorating to witness nature wake from its winter slumber in an explosion of colours and fragrances, especially if it is happening right in your garden. Follow our tips and gardening ideas to optimise your garden this spring.

1. Fertilise and Nourish

The winter months are coming to an end. It is time to kick-start everything all at once in your garden. Fertilising is one of the most crucial steps. It ensures your grass grows green, and your flowerbeds become luscious.

2. Pruning for Growth and General Garden Maintenance

Your garden potentially grew a little wild over the colder winter months. Regardless of the state of things, spring is the ideal time to trim your plants and give them the best chance to grow and prosper through the warmer months.

While aesthetics can matter depending on the garden, the most important thing is to prune branches and plants that have taken damage, look unhealthy or have died. And while you are pruning, don’t forget to give your hedges a trim too.

Be on the lookout for weeds and any unwanted debris that may have accumulated over the winter. For instance, check your gutters and unclog them if needed. And maybe your compost set-up requires a thorough cleaning.

Lastly, canvas your garden for pests and eradicate them before they become a problem.
